Describe yourself with 5 words: Tall, cynical, amused, thoughtful, opinionated

What is your biggest pet peeve?: Bad drivers. I'm just learning how to drive, so I'm very careful, and it's incredibly frightening when some guy blasts past you or barely swerves around you. I think the only excuse for driving like that is if you're pregnant wife/mistress is giving birth in the backseat.

What is your biggest disappointment?: I don't always try my hardest with running (I run cross country and track). I would love to be one of those kids that's phenomenal at running, but I know that if I don't work a lot harder I never will be. That's disappointing. Also, every Adam Sandler movie. He should've stayed on SNL...

If you could change one thing about you, what would it be?: I wouldn't mind being shorter. I'm 6'2"

What is the one thing that has kept you going, no matter what?: The knowledge that the universe doesn't care. It may sound depressing, but to me it's comforting.

Do you have a role-model? If so, who and why?: My brother, absolutely. He's the smartest person I know, and one of the funniest. He goes to Yale and is currently studying abroad at Oxford. That's a tough act to follow.

[Opinionated]

What's Your Opinion On...

War: Is anyone actually pro-war? Ignore Iraq and your personal feelings about all that. Is anyone actually pro-war? I saw A Very Long Engagement a few weeks ago, which depicts the absurdity of war, and it really made me think. Like, how can you possibly know which side is right? In America, we're trained (most of us are) to think America is the greatest country in the world. But the soldiers fighting against us were told the same thing about their country. I suppose I agree with retaliation, like after September 11th, but I really think as a nation we should be more concerned with uniting the world, rather than dividing it. </rant>

Homosexual/Bi-Racial Relationships: Go for it. I see no problem with them whatsoever. I regret that the majority of Americans disagree with me, because that means that a homosexual couple is going to have a very difficult time raising a family. I guess I understand why someone would be against gay marriage and adoption, worrying that the adopted kid would be brought up gay, but homophobia is inexcusable. Every school needs a GSA.

Capital Punishment: I'm against it. I don't agree with the idea of killing someone because they killed someone. It just doesn't sit well with me. Capital punishment is like spanking your child. If your kid hits another kid, don't spank them to teach them that hitting is wrong; put them in time out. If a man kills another person, don't kill him to show the rest of us that killing is wrong. We know that. We see how horrible murder is. Instead, lock him up for ever and ever.

Premarital Sex: Sex is a big decision, but I think that if you're honestly ready to deal with all the stress and possible repercussions, then have at it. Use protection.

Religion: I go to a private Episcopal school, but I'm not very religious, and neither is my family. Religion is kind of a private thing for me.

Alcohol/Drugs: This one time in Health class last year, they showed us a movie about this guy that smoked so much nicotine that he developed tongue cancer. They had to cut out his tongue. But hey, other than that...

okay first off you're a boy. so i have to say yes.

everything you said was amazing!

i admire my older brother too. i know what it feels like to try and match your older siblings. my brother was valedictorian (me...i'm trying to get into the top 10% of my class), went to notre dame and graduated with honors, and now goes to university of california berkeley for chemistry (getting his Ph. D.). in case you didn't know, berkeley is the #2 school in the world behind harvard and it's #1 in chemistry. then there's me who settles with a 1020 on my SATs and is going to indiana university.

Yes.
You are so young, but I said yes anyway, two things though...
-People often WISH they were taller, so take it as a gift instead of something hindering. ;)
-My father, a Vietnam vet is actually Pro-war.
-The Ten Commandments is an amazing movie.
hateful_spear on January 17th, 2005 07:50 pm (UTC)

you're awesome. i'm glad there are people
out there who are as opinionated as you..
plus, you actually share a lot of my OWN
opinions, which makes everything easier
for me to decide :D

You bet your sweet ass
++++ "but I really think as a nation we should be more concerned with uniting the world, rather than dividing it."
++++ Virginia. (I'm originally from New Hampshire, but I'm going to Norfolk Virginia, and Suffolk Virginia for four days in february. Now, at the risk of sounding like an idiot, I don't know where those places are, so would they be considered northern?)
++++Everything else

Re: You bet your sweet ass
I really have little to no idea where that is. I've never been to Virginia before, so this is a first.

Re: You bet your sweet ass
If you stop by Virginia, then head over to the Nation's Capital, Washington DC, and then assume we're about 20 minutes away in some sort of direction from there.

There's no good reason to say no, and many good reasons to say yes! :) Good luck!
